ANote: TDS is not a professional method for testing water quality. TDS stands for total dissolved solids. For example, if you add a very small amount of salt (NaCl) to the water and test the TDS level, you will find that the result is dramatically high. The same is true if your water is full of minerals. Even then, the TDS level will be very high.

SK99 doesn't remove minerals from water, only heavy metals like lead, mercury, cadmium, and over 70–80 VOCs, and largely removes chlorine from water. This is why the TDS reading you get isn't as low as expected.

The TDS measurement method is commonly used in reverse osmosis systems because the RO filtration system also removes minerals from the water. If an RO membrane isn't performing well, the TDS will be relatively high. And if the TDS gets significantly higher, it's time to replace the RO membrane.

Therefore, please do not use TDS to test water other than the reverse osmosis system, as the result is meaningless.

A: Regarding the lifespan of the FZ-2 filter cartridge for MK99, there is no exact timeframe to tell customers when the filter needs to be changed. All flow capacity specifications listed on the sticker are based on actual laboratory tests and the supplied water. The quality of the supply water varies greatly among different users. If we had to specify a lifespan by time, we would say 6-8 months, based on your water quality and the amount of water you use daily.

Here are some suggestions for judging whether it's time to change your filter: First, taste is important. If you feel the taste of your water has changed significantly, it's time for a change. Second, water flow is important. The carbon concentration is the highest at 0.5 microns, 10 times higher than most other brands with a similar product. If your water is getting too bad, it means the carbon concentration is blocked, as your water contains many small particles and volatile organic compounds.

You should be aware that the performance of a water filter will deteriorate over time and eventually become exhausted. Therefore, Frizzlife recommends that every user change the filter more frequently to ensure the best water.
